Measuring The Abstract

Euclid These guys do a great job of replicating the sound of Meshuggah; The vocals sound like Jens, the soloing is similar Fredrik, & the rhythm/bass matches Marten and Dick. The drums move back and forth between a more traditional metal approach (think Chris Adler) and the calculated precision of Tomas Haake. The production is pretty good, but not as good as their next release. All in all this is a great debut album, 4/5 stars Favorite track: Auroral Display.

about

Evoking the best elements of Meshuggah, Theory in Practice, Cynic and Dream Theater, Terminal Function create a mishmash of chunky chugging rhythms, progressive melodic leads, and Outer Space-like synth passages on their debut, Measuring The Abstract. Sure to please fans of all forms of technical metal.
